Website analytics

I use Umami, hosted on my own server, to understand which recipes people read and how they find the site. It records page visits, referral sources, campaign links, approximate location, browser and device information, and clicks such as playing a video or opening an email link.

The analytics tracker does not use cookies. IP addresses are processed to estimate visits and location, but are not stored in the analytics database. I do not record your screen, your keystrokes or the contents of emails. Visit totals are estimates, rather than a count of identifiable people.

The tracker respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting. You can also turn it off here. This choice is saved in this browser’s local storage and applies to this site.

Videos and other websites

YouTube videos load their player only when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed domain. Once you play a video, YouTube receives information about that visit under its own privacy policy. Links to Instagram, TikTok, shops and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Affiliate links and contact

Some shop links may earn me a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer or affiliate programme may use its own tracking after you follow a link.

Emailing me opens your email app. I use the information you send to respond to your message. For questions about this website or your information, contact hello@dirkkuiper.com.
